Restored 1980-83 DP/SD Class Johnson 60. Parts were obtained from many different models. The exhaust housing is from a 1978 55. The powerhead is Hans’ 1986 45SS spare. The gearcase housing and propshaft came off a 3 cyl. 75. So many different parts are interchangeable in this business. I plan to remove the Stinger 75 temporarily from Hans’ May Fly III in order to test the motor. I’m trying without much hope to find a set of steering bars. If that fails the only option is to trim a stud flange off my extra set of Stinger bars.
This motor is for sale with a stock powerhead after I’ve tested it. I’m curious how fast it will push the May Fly. Because of the same gearcase/propshaft, the 60 and 75 use the same props. The 60 is geared less than 2:1 at 29:13 while the Stinger is geared 28:15.
