From John Slator……..More on the MK-25
After purchasing a number of MK 25’s at the recent auction, one by one I looked them over. One common, not real evident observation was about half had slightly bent tiller arms. This is probably caused by using the tiller to tilt up the motor. Some of them the bend was evident others you had to remove the tiller and place it on a flat surface and roll it over to see the bend. When you take a bent tiller arm off they usually will not rotate freely. I was able to straighten all but one good enough to turn freely and use. Some of these old motors the stator plate grease gets hard and the plate is hard to rotate with the tiller handle so if a little lubrication does not eliminate that make sure to look at the tiller arm closely. The other thing be careful trying to straighten a tiller so you don’t make it egg shaped when straightening it by banging on it or you will end up with another problem.
Another observation when pulling flywheels, the 58 all cast flywheel requires fine thread bolts to utilize your puller, not coarse threads like most others.
