The John and Cindy Slator-hosted sale/swap meet was enjoyed by all. There was a great turnout of many club members and there were a lot of antique outboards and other related stuff for sale. Many motors changed hands. We had about forty members there as well as some invited guests and friends.
See all the photos at the gallery: http://www.texaschapteraomci.com/gallery/john-slators-dry-meet-gallery/ . Sales of the advertised boats and motors began on Friday afternoon with quick sales of the 4-cylinder Mercs and the Speeditwins. The big lots of motors and parts brought by Owen Meridith and Dave Samstag were the feature attractions. John Slator also let go of some great deals and helped several guys acquire that “one special part ” that so many of us needed to complete a motor. We also had a gentlemen attend whose wares included a large collection of miniature K&O Motors and model boats – what a treat!
The weather was perfect and John Slator, with culinary assistance from some neighborhood friends, cooked up a great hamburger and bratwurst lunch. Additionally several of our spouses pitched in in a big way and helped host the breakfast snacks and the BBQ lunch buffet making everything go smooth.
Hats off John and Cindy Slator for hosting this meet at his home. A lot of work was done in preparation creating a successful event that so many of us greatly enjoyed.
Our annual spring meet is being held April 12-14th at Lake LBJ in Kingsland,TX. We hope to see you all there as everyone always enjoys this wet meet. We will have a BBQ on Saturday evening the 13th.
