John Slator just finished ordering some Champion J4C non-resistor plugs on line for $1.59 each including shipping. This would be the most common plug for early OMC motor application. There is an iBoat forum that discusses in detail about these plugs including the use of the J6C that is recommended for slow speed use as in trolling a lot. No need for a resistor plug in our motors. Most of our motors are fairly forgiving but why not use as directed? John advises that it is always a good sign to pull a plug that shows signs of a good clean burn, particularly when so many of us tend to go overboard with the oil including myself.
